Ian Harte linked with move to Watford
Boothroyd: Looking for a new left-back following Stewart's exit

Watford are in the hunt for Ian Harte after the former Republic of Ireland international was released by Sunderland.

With left-back Jordan Stewart moving on to join Derby, Harte has been earmarked as a replacement by the Vicarage Road club.

Harte, who played in the Leeds side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, made just eight appearances for Sunderland last year, of which only three were starts. The 30-year-old, looking for first-team football, has also attracted the interest of Championship rivals Ipswich and Swansea.

In a career that has now spanned 12 seasons, Harte has scored over 50 goals for club and country, and would be a useful addition to Watford's promotion bid if he signs as expected.

However, Harte has also reportedly held talks with Ipswich manager Jim Magilton, while Leicester City are also said to be interested.
