Derby have increased their bid for Stockport striker Liam Dickinson.
Stockport have already rejected one offer from the Rams, believed to be in the region of £250,000, which they branded "derisory".
However Rams boss Paul Jewell remains keen to sign Dickinson and has confirmed a new offer has been made to the League One club.
"Sometimes, these things take time," Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"We made an offer for him and we've made an improved offer for him. We're still waiting to hear back from Stockport.
"Liam Dickinson is a young player at 22. He's big, strong, quick and hungry. He fits the bill."
Dickinson scored 21 goals for Stockport last season, including one in the play-off final against Rochdale which secured promotion from League Two.
