Peter Ridsdale has revealed Peter Whittingham is on the verge of signing a new three-year contract with Cardiff.
The midfielder was the subject of an unsuccessful £1million bid from Nottingham Forest last week and will now pen a new deal with the FA Cup finalists.
Ridsdale also stated defender Roger Johnson - who, along with Whittingham, is out of contract next season - is close to agreeing a new contract, while centre-back Glenn Loovens and winger Paul Parry are considering two-year offers.
"Peter Whittingham has verbally agreed a new three-year deal," Ridsdale told BBC Sport. "We'll now put that into a contract and he'll sign in the next few days. And we are also confident of doing a deal with Roger Johnson.
"We've also put offers to Glenn Loovens and Paul Parry and we hope everything goes well because they all were a part in our success last season.
"The manager Dave Jones has certainly endeared himself to the squad and they want to stay and play for him. The players understand that we're building something very special at Cardiff."
