Burnley have completed the signing of Scunthorpe striker Martin Paterson in a deal worth up to £1.3million.
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor after undergoing a medical.
The Clarets will pay Scunthorpe an initial £1million, equalling the record transfer fee paid for both Robbie Blake and Ian Moore, and they will pay a further £300,000 based on appearances.
The Iron, who were relegated from the Coca-Cola Championship last season, will also receive 20% of the profit of any future sale of the forward.
Burnley manager Owen Coyle - who sold Kyle Lafferty to Rangers for a fee in excess of £3million last week - said: "I am absolutely delighted to have Martin on board at Burnley. I admired him even when I was managing in Scotland and he was always a prime target of mine this summer.
"I am excited to have signed such a young, hungry striker who is keen to score goals and I feel sure he will be a success at Turf Moor."
