Seaside trip for Addicks

Charlton's pre-season preparations continued to take shape on Friday after a friendly date with League One side Brighton & Hove Albion was confirmed for July.

Charlton will play a pre-season friendly at the Withdean Stadium in July

The clash with the Seagulls, who just missed out on a play-off place this season, will take place at the Withdean Stadium on Saturday, July 26th (3pm).

The game will be Micky Adams' first home match in charge of the Seagulls since he recently returned to the club as manager.

Therry Racon, if selected for Charlton, will also be returning to the Withdean Stadium. The cultured Addicks midfielder enjoyed a one-month loan spell with Brighton towards the end of the season, impressing in eight first-team starts.

Ticket details for this game will be announced on the official website when they become available.

Non-League neighbours Welling United and Ebbsfleet United will form the opposition when Charlton kick off their pre-season campaign in July.

Wednesday, July 9th, is the date for the traditional pre-season curtain-raiser at Park View Road, and the following Saturday, the club's strong bond with Ebbsfleet United (formerly Gravesend & Northfleet) will see the Addicks make the familiar trip to DA11.

As home to the club's reserve team, Stonebridge Road will be a familiar location for Addicks players and fans.

On the same day that Charlton face Welling, an Addicks XI is pencilled in for a clash at Dulwich Hamlet, although some planned work on the pitch at Champion Hill could see the fixture delayed.

The match forms part of the deal that saw Chris Dickson move to SE7 just over a year ago and, rather like the opening pre-season double-header last season when the Addicks took on Welling and Tooting & Mitcham on the same evening, the first-team squad are likely to be split in half.

Newly promoted Dartford will play host to a CAFC XI at the sparkling Princes Park venue that has hosted the Charlton women's team this season on Tuesday, July 15th.

Bromley will then play host four days later, before Charlton visit The Recreation Ground twice in a week.

Both Blue Square Premier outfit Grays Athletic and Football League newcomers, Aldershot Town, share the same name for their grounds, and a CAFC XI is the constant on Saturday, July 26th and Saturday, August 2nd.

A benefit match for former Addicks winger Colin Powell ahead of the new campaign are still to be confirmed, but it is likely the player who made 358 appearances for the club will be honoured at The Valley at the end of July or early August.

Charlton are set to wrap up their pre-season campaign in SE7 with an attractive home match on August 2nd, a week before the new season starts.

Fans should note that extra friendly games will be announced when confirmed, and all fixtures are subject to change.
